Hoek Brokerage was initially set up in 1998 providing a service for owners looking to sell or buy a Hoek Design yacht.

Over the years Hoek Brokerage has achieved international renown in the niche market of yachts developed by Hoek Design Naval Architects, along with an acclaimed personal service and in-debt yacht knowledge.

A close cooperation with the Hoek Design office gives Hoek Brokerage a prime position in the international yacht sales and charter market.

The team has a rich experience in the design and building process and has sailed most yachts built to a Hoek Design. Moreover, an intimate knowledge of other yachts built at the many yards known to Hoek Design and Hoek Brokerage is offered.

The team

Pieter A. van der Weide,  Managing director

Pieter van der Weide has been at the helm of Hoek Brokerage since early 2008. His records show an impressive number of achievements, such as:

Selling a sizeable number of yachts ranging from the 36ft daysailer Josephine II to the 144ft J-Class Lionheart. Offering the charter availabilties to a vast and increasing number of happy guests and owners.

Supervising various refits of yachts sold by Hoek Brokerage. Pieter’s experience encompasses technical, commercial, legal and managerial expertise and he has a rich boat building background, having previously set up and owned a company in the Netherlands that built steel, sail and motor yachts up to 60ft. Emigrating to New Zealand in 1983, he set up another yacht building company and continued building steel and aluminium motor and sailing yachts ranging from 70 ft up to 120ft.

Bart Hopmans, Yacht Broker

Having worked in the yachting industry most of his professional career, Bart has gained a wide experience with yachts from a technical and aesthetics perspective. He has mediated in numerous international transactions and has recently had the honour of assisting Green Peace in acquiring their youngest 74 ft. Expedition Sailing Yacht “Witness”, Skip Novak’s former
“Pelagic Australis”.

Bart adheres to the philosophy that Yacht brokerage is not about making a quick sell, rushing on to the next deal. Instead, the created added value lies in building trust whilst guiding all parties safely through a transaction with a satisfactory outcome for all stakeholders.
